I saw a few different ideas that I thought would meld nicely together to creat our table numbers! I saw these really great and easy DIY pinwheels over at Juneberry Lane (http://juneberry-lane.blogspot.com/2011/06/tutorial-tuesdaywednesday-colorful.html), but since we love wine, I also thought using wine bottles would be cool, a la Martha Stewart (http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/table-number-ideas?#slide_9). So I ended up combining them and adding taper candles for some extra ambiance. I think they came out pretty well!
I made the pinwheels out of scrapbook paper (double-sided is really great because you get more options and it looks cool from both sides!). Once I made the pinwheels, I printed the numbers on ivory cardstock and cut them out and glued them to the center of the pinwheel. I then glued a ribbon in the shape of an 8 with the bottom cut off (like the awareness ribbons) to the back of the pinwheel and hung them around the necks of wine bottles. And then I got some short tapers and wedged them into the tops of the wine bottles. This took some effort because I had to taper the bottoms of the candles with a knife so they’d fit. I only had 12 tables so it wasn’t so bad. But definitely took longer than I thought! All in all these worked out well!
