So it turned out ok…but it was the wrong color!! We asked for the cake to be white. Our baker made it yellow! I didn’t find out until I saw it as I was walking out to the ceremony so it was a little too late to do anything about it. I surprised myself with what a zen bride I was at that moment. 🙂 I was on the way to marry my love…not even a yellow cake could ruin my moment!
And, as it turned out, the yellow still looks ok, right? In our baker’s defense, yellow and blue were our wedding colors, I just thought white was a little more “bridal” for the cake.
And that, my fellow bees, is the biggest thing that went wrong on our wedding day. I guess we were pretty lucky/blessed, right? 🙂

Your cake is beautiful though, exactly what was looking for our wedding!

Obviously it wasn’t what you had in mind, but it’s absolutely beautiful! I’m swooning over it.

Thanks you guys! Your comments make me feel so much better about our cake mishap! I forgot to mention two last things…
1- We were supposed to have like $200 worth of sugar paste Columbines decorating the cake that the baker forgot to make so she brought us a naked, wrong colored cake! Our florist saved the day with some extra flowers she had!!!
2- The baker DID remember the sugar paste ladybug we asked for. We then had our littlest guests (and some of the adults too!) go on a scavenger hunt around the cake to see if they could find it among the flowers. It was a hit! 🙂

I have to say I NEVER would have guessed that the cake wasn’t perfect — it loooks GREAT! And I love the scavenger hunt idea with the ladybug. Too cute!

Oh yeah! Awesome cake. I clicked on your photo because the colors were so vibrant. MY cake actually turned out lop-sided.
My sweet coordinator approached me and prepped me for the ‘shock’ with an announcement that went something like; ‘…now it didn’t quite turn out how you might imagine…’ The poor baker was so apologetic and worried I’d be furious (what kinda bridezillas are giving us all such a bad rep?!). I actually had to console her and assure everyone it was perfect anyway!
Agreed – it was my wedding day, who cares about a cake (no offense to all the cake designers out there; it certainly SEEMS importatnt when choosing one).
