I have seen a few bees post about painting their own parasols, but they don’t mention what kind of paint they used. I bought a box of white paper parasols from Oriental Trading (these: http://www.orientaltrading.com/diy-parasols-a2-48_363.fltr?Ntt=parasol) – but they are so waxy on the outside, regular acrylic paint just runs, and when I used a pen (sharpie), the ink also bled!
Any suggestions? Maybe I’m not being patient enough with the paint and letting it dry? It really doesnt even catch the paper, it just shows as really pale and runny, won’t keep a shape. Any suggestions on other paper parasols to buy that dont have that waxy layer, or do they all have it?
