- Wedding: September 2010
Last week we finally sent out our STD’s! I say that because I was one of those super-planner brides and got a lot of the major planning things done within a month or so of us getting engaged. I guess it also helped that I was waiting for over 6 years for the ring, so I had been unofficially planning the wedding in my head for a few months before the big question. It feels great to get an official announcement out to the public! Adds another layer of excitement
I really love our STD pic because Mr coffeelover and I met while going to school in Philly and our lives really have grown together here. Our wedding is going to be in NY but I am glad we got to include Philly as part of the wedding process!
My original inspiration came from an early post I saw from Mrs. Cheese’s STD post. @Mrs. Cheese used a fun engagement picture and made a very to-the-point STD which I really liked! Mr. coffeelover and I are trying to keep this whole wedding budget-friendly as we are contributing to the wedding costs so we knew postcards would be the easiest on the wallet.
A few things that really made this whole process easier:
- I used to work as a photographer/creative arm in a retail company’s marketing department so I enjoyed getting back into photoshop to create our own STDs
- We also had our friend who is starting his own photography company to take our engagement pictures
- dafont.com has a TON of fonts! originally I saw a lot of brides were posting that they found fonts here but it took me about 10 tries to find fonts…I had to keep coming back with a fresh set of eyes about 10 times before I found all the fonts I liked, then it took another 5 tries to figure out which I actually wanted to use
- vistaprint had a template that you can download to ensure your postcard is designed in the right specs and ensure your design will not get cut-off when it goes to print
here are some pics for your enjoyment!
