The polka dot cake was a lemon cake frosted in buttercream frosting. On the way to the wedding, someone ran a red light, and the “cake lady” had to slam on her breaks to prevent from being hit. However, the cake slid forward, and arrived as the Leaning Tower of Pisa. She fixed it on location, but it didn’t matter to me, because leaning or not, it was going to taste fabulous! You can see creases in the frosting, especially the bottom layer.
The cake plate was made following some Martha Stewart instructions. Plywood, paint, cabinet knobs, hot glue and ribbon.
