- Wedding: March 2012
I was watching barefoot contessa one day and she made these gorgeous centerpieces using hurricane lamps, rustic items like sticks, pine cones, and christmas type florals, and christmas lights. I wanted a super cheap idea for centerpieces, so I thought I would create a knock off. I am having a morning wedding, a brunch reception, and a jazz band. My fiance and I are are really low key and wanted things simple.I bought two large bags of potpourri from Tuesday Morning-1 bag can create 9-10 tables. One handful does a lot! It took me a long time, literally until last week, to find IVORY votives in the glass and taper candles for a good price. My colors are lapis (well since lapis is so hard to match its become a hues of purple affair), ivory and silver. A lighter ivory-which was hard to find both matching pieces for cheap. I have looked at michaels several times and they NEVER had candles like these before when I went! I am thankful I was able to find these-4.99 for a box of 12 votives in the glass and 1.29 for each 10 inch taper candle. I will have to rent mirrors, but overall a cheap centerpiece. i love them-they smell wonderful too!
