Just wanted to share our DIY invites for other bees looking for inspiration! It IS possible to have that layered, textured look on a budget!!! Took me many hours over many weeks to get everything just right– tried font after font, moving things around, tweaking the colors, etc. Whew. Truly a labor of love. Some of the graphics were purchased from digital artists on etsy (the chevron), and some were downloaded and tweaked from weddingchicks (the Love circle seal). This set is our first finished print out, fully assembled. There are a couple of typos (such as spelling of Georgia), which we have since corrected (just FYI). Now we just need to print and do another 70 or so of them.
These were designed after looking over about 20-30 different designs online none of which had that “just right” feel. I looked at tons on etsy, zazzle, and other sites. Some were pretty close to perfect but waaay more than we could pay ( budgeted $200 for invites). While we’d love to, we could not spend $3 plus per invite… So by designing our own, we got invites that had some of the elements of others we liked, but all combined into our own invite , exactly how we wanted them to look. I haven’t totalled up the numbers, but so far, for all the paper, envelopes and glue dots (we also used all the same supplies for our save the dates– will try to upload those later!) spent around $135. We figured out what/how much before even doing the save-the dates so could get all supplies in one order, 1 flat shipping cost. Sized most of the inserts to get the most from each sheet, hence nothing is bigger than 5×7, but we’re ok with that. Stamps will be additional, but we will still come in within budget. (+$50).
*Did not include a return address stamp from Etsy in this ($25) cost, as we have used it for lots other stuff than just invites. (thank yous, etc)
Canvas textured white cardstock from Joann’s (always use a Joanns coupon!)
