I accidentally posted in the wrong category so I’m going to try ths again….
While lurking on this site I was inspired by other brides who made their own aisle runners. I fell in love with the idea of walking on a carpet of petals and dedcided to go for it! My wedding colors are purple, apple green and silver so I decided to make my runner various shades of purple. I decided to try to dye white rose petals that I saw at thr Dollar Tree and that was an EPIC FAIL. So my wonderfully awesome future husband offed to buy me petals online. My MOH sent me a link for http://www.silkflowersfactory.com so I decided to check it out. I fell in love! They have so many different colors of petals on their site! We decided on grape and eggplant. My petals arrived in 3 days! I had promised my bridesmaids that I wasn’t going to take this project on alone but I was so excited I started this morning. So here’s the start of my project. So far I’ve used 1,000 petals. It’s a lot of work and a lot of glue but it will be so worth it in the end!

I have a question. About how much of the runner have you covered with the 1,000 petals? I spoke with my venue and she said a 24 ft runner would be a good lengh but I have no idea how many petals to buy for that! 🙂
BTW, yours looks awesome so far. 🙂 How long is it going to be? Can’t wait to see the finished product.

So far it’s 3 feet long. I’m not sure yet how long it’s supposed to be. I’m waiting on my wedding coordinator to measure the aisle of the church and get back to me. I wanna say 25 feet. It took me about 3 hours to get this far. I was sitting on my floor with the runner on my coffee table watching a movie so the time went by pretty fast. I glued a little but at a time and stuck the petals down. My first row I messed up because I glued the petals the wrong way! So advice for anyone that starts this glued the petals down with the end of the petal facing away from you.
I’ll post more pics as I make more progress. Gotta wait til payday to order more petals. I’m thinking I’m going to need about 7,000 to finish this project.
