We are having a very intimate wedding (11 adults, 2 babies), so invitations aren’t really needed for us. But I still wanted to play! I ordered a whole bunch of samples from online paper stores, stopped into a brick-and-mortar store and started gathering ideas. I approached FI with my favorites and he decided “we should do something that our guests have to put together… and it flies around the room!” Well, okay….??? His next idea was a little more feasible… a puzzle invitation. It took a bit of time to put together, but we took a lovely engagement photo of us, made it b&w, put some info on it, and ordered 8 puzzles/stand up frames with the image on it!
I wasn’t quite sure how to send the puzzles, but after a day of craft stores, I found some cute little boxes at target and dress it up with various ribbons, baker’s string, and a wax seal. We gently placed it all in boxes with tissue paper and some kisses… voila!

If anyone’s interested in cost breakdown for our 7 invitations:
Image: free — engagement photo edited with PhotoMonkey
Puzzle: $11.99 each, plus shipping ($13.28 total)
Polka dot boxes: 0.33/each
Ribbon: ~ $7 for all (~$1 each)
Wax seal: Already owned (but otherwise $25 on etsy, including wax)
Tissue paper: Already owned
Hershey’s kisses: Don’t remember — walmart.com says $9 – so ~$1.30 each
Shipping boxes: ~$2 each
Shipping: Ranged from $5 (zone 1) – $9 (zone 8)
Total Cost: ~$23-27 each (depending on shipping) or $175 for 7.
It may not have been the least expensive option, but we still came in under my $200 budget. My in-store quote for simple paper invites was $200+, the Minted ones I liked were only $87… We would have had to order a minimum of 15 (online) or 25 (in store) invitations. Either way, we would have had many more than we needed, and we both think this idea is way more fun! (And plus, FI was actually interested in this part of planning — so it wais totally worth it!)

So cool….love it…!! Would be too expensive for my wedding lol, but for an intimate gathering such as yours, you just can’t beat it. So unique and creative. 🙂
