- Wedding: September 2012
I was watching an old movie and the woman in the film kept her love letters tied up in a beatuiful lace hankerchief…….I thought that was very romantic and our wedding has a bit of a Jane Austen theme going on so I tried to incorporate that feeling into our invitations………I loved how the invitations came out…very very simple just invitation and response card and envelope tied up with ribbon in an antiuqe hankerchief (which I have been collecting for awhile). I really liked this as an alternative to the large folder filled with cards. We also collected antique stamps making the outside envelope look like an old fashioned postcard that traveled the world…………. I am really hoping my guests like them.
P.S. Teddy is short for Theodora
This is beautiful! What is the illustration of the flower you’re using? I’ve been trying to find something similar but I’m struggling at the moment. Would you be able to send me a template as well if it’s available? Will PM you 🙂
So Pretty! Good Job!
Oh I love them! The hankie is my favorite part but I also love the stamps and the colors! Did you have a problem with the post office since you put the stamps all around and not only in the top right corner?
Flower – The flower I’m using is Queen Anne’s Lace and it’s been a difficult road. Everything had to be specially created. I hired a graphic artist who works with my husband-to-be, to create the flowers on the invitations. I wanted the flower on a white-on-white cake too. The baker I am using has been on quite a few food network challenges and explained this type of cake requires a commercial stencil. I had to have my mom (also an artist) create the image and the baker sent it out to have a stencil made.
Postage – Actually most invitations are hand cancelled so putting the postage around the envelope shouldn,t be a problem. I worked from the upper right corner out. I’m not certain if it helps if to have a hopeless romantic at your local post office or not but mine didn’t have a problem with it. I was told that as long as I put sufficient United States postage on the envelope it would be ok…….. I did have a few invitations going to Canada, they had the most postage on them. I found out that US stamps going to Canada was ok but had to have Canadian stamps on the response cards that are mailed back (didnt want to use internet). I got canadian stamps on the internet for the response cards, but only single stamp on each envelope there.
BEAUTIFUL!! I wish I had thought of it. Yumyum
