This sure took some time, but I am happy with the result. Below first is the finished product. I will show other photos of the project. I bought a 5 piece paper mache box set from JoAnn Fabrics with a 50% off coupon which I only used 3 ($10.00 for the boxes). I used Ivory fabric 1 yard also from JoAnns ($4 with a coupon). Sticky Spray adhesive, box cutter, Ribbon, lace ribbon, binder clips and flowers from the dollar store, roll on double sided tape/adheasive, and a glue gun to hold the lace ribbon on.
I hope you all don’t mind big pictures.. (I turned all the boxes upside down because I like the look of it)
As you can see where I drew an outline of where the boxes will be laying… I made room for 1 inch on both the inner and outer circle so the boxes could rest on each other.
This is how the inside looks
I used this youtube video to help with how to apply the fabric.
Once I had them all done, I used the light purple ribbon and added those to the upside down lids with the double sided tape adhesive (sorry forgot to take that picture)
Once I had all the main fabric on, I found it best to place clips inside the boxes on the different layers of the ledges to hold the whole cake layers together when you picked it.
I ran out of the lace ribbon on the bottom tier but then added it later and reinfored the lace ribbon with a glue gun.
It looked plain as it stood, so I added some flowers…. played with different options and ended up with these… ( I shoved the flower stems in between the bottom layers)
side top view so you can see the card slot
I hope you all enjoy the photos. If you have any questions, I’d be glad to help.
