During our engagement session I had this grand vision for our save the dates… I wanted Save the Date and some other info written in the sand and have the information (date, location, ect.) written on a white sheet of paper with us blurred in the background… my vision did not work so we improvised with all the infor written on boards… So on to the question…. I have been primarily working on one shot… and now I am having doubt. (My sis and I are both photographers and she shot my engagement pics… and I told her that I would edit my STD’s… not the problem… thought my post required that info to be clear though.) So do I continue with the one I have been working on or pic a new one… I need HELP!
STD image I have been working on…. I need to play around with the coloring but mostly complete.
number two…. one of my mom’s grips is that my FI is too dark in the first one… this one is cute and I can bring out his face a bit more… and you can see our heart in the sand!
#4… dosen’t really resolve the problem with my FI’s being soo dark…. but still cute!
Although we have better pics from the engagement session my FI and I decided we wanted to stick with this idea… I love it when the Sve the Date is incorperated in the photo not just written off to the side..

I love the idea of your photo… but it is hard to see the heart in the sand. Would you be willing to reshoot it and perhaps sit on the sand or kind of semi lie down? Then the photographer (your sis) can take it at an angle and get the heart in it and maybe be able to see it better. Or get creative and maybe outline the heart with rocks, seashells, stuff you find at the beach?
Also I like that you added type to your white sign because it is easier to read then the photo with your handwritting. But the 2nd sign is just a little hard to read and there is quite a bit of text on it. Also the line about formal invites to come is a little hard to read (I could make it out since you know, I’m a future bride myself). So I am not sure how you will get that all in there.. Maybe you can get rid of the “what” because I’m sure your guests will get that you guys are getting married. Or you can just shorten it to “Will & Kristen are getting married!” and that would eliminate the line below and then you could make the font bigger and have less text so that it is easy on the eyes.

I think I would re-shoot now that you know what your issues are. I do like all of the photos and I think you did a great job of doctoring the first one.
I also agree with meowmix above that less on the signs is more. I also think the heart is difficult to see. Maybe bring a simple step stool?
I would make the signs a little smaller (they look hard to hold and in some pictures awkward) and make one say “save the date” and the other just have the date.
How are you getting these to the people? You can always put all the other pertinent information on the other side – print it on a label and make them postcards (we did postcard save the dates). I think the photos should be about YOU! No need to include all that info in the photo.
