Another take on the STRASS…thanks to all the bees before me that inspired this!
So I already have a pair of heels that I’m going to wear for my wedding. However, knowing that heels always kill my feet and the thought of wearing them the entire wedding day had me thinking that I should have a backup pair of comfortable wedges. While in the DSW clearance section, I came across these black Rocket Dog wedges and decided to “semi-strass” them with zebra-type stripes following the raised “layered” fabric design of the shoe.
Here is how the shoes started out (hard to see the layered fabric):
I originally was going to just do the zebra stripes on top but then I saw a DIY on here about glittered shoe soles so I did the wedge part of the heels with glitter. It looked all right on my shoes (but I didn’t think it looked as cute as on the bottoms of others’ shoes). Since I wasn’t completely satisfied, I decided to completely strass the wedge heel part of the shoe overtop of the glitter heel:
Just finished the left shoe last night but here is what I’ve got so far:
For anyone wondering, I ordered 2100 of the “Tanzanite AB Swarovski Crystal Flatback Rhinestones, 2028 12SS 3 mm” from ebay, for about $117.00 including shipping. PM me if you want the specific seller, because he always shipped lightning-fast and also added more if I needed a greater quantity.
I also bought some of the purple 3 mm Swarovski rhinestones from Michaels (“Creat Your Style with Swarovski elements” and the ones by Jolee) which come in 42-piece packs (for some reason they both say 3 mm but the ones on ebay are bigger than the ones from Michaels). I used the E6000 glue recommended by the other bees and basically spread a small amount on the shoe using a toothpick. I then pressed my finger onto each crystal to pick it up and place it on the shoe, then pressed it into place using a separate, clean toothpick.
Also, as everyone always says, the pictures do NOT do the sparkle justice! They are absolutely so pretty in the right lighting! =)
So, honestly, what do you all think? My wardrobe is crazy enough that I know I’ll wear these again even after the wedding =)
