i Seen the post on here for soy candles in teacups..loved the idea- want to do this for my wedding which is October 10th as our favor…i will more than likely need 40 around…i found on kijiji little glass jars with lids i think 4oz each but not sure until i pick them up…so my question is the candle wax from Michaels comes in 1lb bags (i called) so i was just wondering how many lbs i may need to make the 40 candles anyone have any idea??? it may say on the container but i am just trying to price it out in advance….i am not sure if Mrs cookie is still on here maybe she would know…thanks ladies

I looked on the 1 lbs. package for the soy wax and it doesn’t say how much it yields. I remember that it takes a lot more wax than you think because it decreases in volume dramatically once it’s poured. My suggestion for 40 candles is to underbuy and start off with two-three lbs of wax. Once you start the process you’ll be better able to gage how much wax your project is using, and you can buy more accordingly.
Hope this helps! Making the candles is really, really fun!

thanks! i did some research and it seems to make 8 candles the size i want so i will need atleast 5-6lbs of wax but will start small as you suggested! i think it will be a great favor and i plan on colouring them and matching the colour with scent so orange candles will be like a spice or pumpkin pie scent..things like that..Ebay sells a big bag of 8lbs for approx $40 with delivery rather than buying the one at Michaels which will cost me more in the end…i will post once i made a candle!
