- Wedding: October 2012
So I was inspired by other Bee’s on a petal aisle runner. So here is mines. It is still a work in progress but I plan on updating this post on my progress as I continue to work on it. Our wedding colors are black, white, silver and a touch of red. I am also hoping to make white rose balls with silver ribbon to go at the end of each row and we will have white chair covers with black organza sashes. I will also post complete aisle pics after October 20, 2012.
I am guessing it’s taking me about a foot an hour. Picture below is 4 ft long but I am hoping to make between 25-35 ft in all.
I used a ruler to mark out the outline. 6 inches on the sides.
I used a hot glue gun and it works great. The top red took about 100 petal. I made a line with the hot glue gun and then added each petal in no real pattern.
I opened 2 packs of 300 piece red petals (600 total) and I had plenty leftover after just doing the top and the 1 side.
After doing all 3 sides (2.5 ft) I had about a few handful of red petals left. (This is still from my 600 red petal package to start).
I started filling the middle. At first I was placing each white petal onto the runner (like I did the red) but it started to look to neat. I figure its petals so it can look out of place. I just starting putting glue all over in large stops and using 2 hands and just sticking them on. No real order or anything. I will then go back and fill in the empty spots with the petal.
I wanted them full so I went back and just started added petals on top of petals to give it a more full look. Once I am done with the total runner then I will go back over it again and add more petals on top. I have about 20,000 white petals and about 4,000 red petals. I pray this is enough. Again, I will update you on the progress. Whites petals are from eBay and red petals are from the dollar store.
This is 4ft so far and I have about 26 more to go (I hope). I plan on taking it down to the venue when I get around 25 total feet done to see if I really need to make more. The ceremony aisle is 36 feet total but I don’t feel it needs to go end to end. So I am hoping to get by on 25-30ft total.
