When I first started browsing Wedding Bee I found a DIY where someone had taken plain flip flops and added some ribbon and rhinestones to decorate them. The DIY I saw was black flip-flops so I wanted to try a white pair.
I bought the flip-flops from Old Navy as they really are the cheapest place for plain flip-flops and I bought the thin plain white ribbon (the thinner the better as it doesn’t cause bumps), the E-6000 glue (recommended to me by a friend who made her own fully rhinestone-ed shoes) and Swarovski flat back rhinestones from Michael’s.
I started the process by spreading the E-6000 glue onto the rubber of the flip-flop with a paintbrush. Once I got a couple inches of glue spread I started to wrap the ribbon around the rubber. I did this all over any rubber part of the flip-flop. The glue dried quickly which made it easier for my hands to wrap the ribbon. Once the ribbon was on I made a little bow to sit just on top of my toes. Then I sporadically added the rhinestones all over.
I’m debating adding some smaller rhinestones to my flip-flops in addition to what I have already done. I feel like shoes can never be too sparkly and the empty spaces between the current rhinestones is sure to annoy me. Should I add more???
