I got the idea to make these table card holders from here and here. To do this project, you’ll need:
– large binder clips like these from an office supply store
– spray adhesive (I used Elmer’s Craft Bond Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive from Michael’s)
– scrapbook paper in a color or pattern of your choice (not cardstock)
– a paper cutter
– newspaper to protect overspray from the adhesive
First, use some scrap paper and a pencil to measure how big the outside of your binder clip is. Cut it out and wrap it around the outside of the clip to see if it’s the right size, or if you need to trim it down. Once it’s the right size, use it as a stencil to trace and cut the scrapbook paper to size.
Spray the adhesive on the binder clip, and wrap it on, starting from one side, to the bottom of the clip, to the other side. I found that the spray is tacky but not too sticky at first, so you can re-adjust if necessary. That’s it!
Mr. jduck figured out that once you clip the picture, you can remove the wire handles easily by pinching the sides of the handle together. To remove the clip from the picture easily, though, you need to replace the handles, so don’t throw them away!

This is the perfect solution! I’m using 4×4 squares (after my original idea flopped). I was wondering how I’d hold em up. I love this idea and wish I would have seen it before I went out to JoAnns 🙂

Yay, I’m glad other bees are finding this useful! 🙂
@misschristinec: thanks! I had fun making them, and they aren’t overly formal at all, which is the look we’re going for since it’s an outdoor picnic reception. I had fun making them using the photo effects at http://www.picnik.com.

Thank you so much! Our venue doesn’t provide table number holders and I didn’t want to spend too much money on them. This is the perfect solution!! 🙂
