Tip jar finished last night for our guestbook for the engagement party.
Bought a beautiful vase type thing which we will use in our house afterwards. Used some blue stones that my mum owns, used left over ribbon from our invitations, and scrapbooking goods for the sign. I also happened to find a mini “Wedding Planning for Dummies” book I bought when we first got engaged. Hopefully that will indicate to guests that you put ADVICE not money in the jar. I got 100 free postcards from vistaprint to use as the advice cards and got free personalised pens from them as well. Now all I have to do up is a short & sweet sign with some instructions/poem.
What do you ladies think?

Nice idea! I’m sometimes extremely clueless, so this may not account for much, but if I was a guest at your wedding, I would think you are asking for money. Maybe add a cute poem stating that you want some wishes and advice? I see you wrote it on the card, but I myself would make it stand out more or something.

Yep, that’s my last task on my list!!
I have a frame that matches the base of the vase, and I’m think I will print this poem and put it in front of it. Also the postcards for people to write on have “ADVICE” written on both sides.
From each of your experiences comes a very special gift,
A piece of hidden knowledge that we didn’t know exists.
Please share with us your wisdom about marriage, love and life;
How to be a loving husband, or to be the perfect wife.
Please write your thoughts and wishes to share with us for life
For the greatest gift of all is the gift of your advice.

I like the idea. Still not sure I’d call it tip jar, but I like this for our engagement party! Great job!

What about “tips for the newlyweds”
“how to live happily ever after”

Eh if my guests are really that stupid to put money in it, when there is a sign right next to it, advice postcards already in there and sitting next to it, then I’m not going to stop them lol.
