- Wedding: June 2010
My DIY unity candle was the easiest project from the wedding.
I began with a trial run, using a stand in candle for practice (which was a good thing because note to all you crafters – hot glue melts candles!). I used satin ivory ribbon for the bottom layer, then a sheer wired red ribbon, topped with a small shiny silver ribbon. For the center, I bought pearl bouquet picks from Hobby Lobby and cut the stem off one.
For the ivory ribbon, I used double sided tape to attach it to the candle. I used a small piece of the tape for the red ribbon, but had to use a tiny dot of hot glue for the silver ribbon since it was so thin. I also used 3 tiny hot glue dots for the pearl pick, but had an extra set of hands to help put it in place quickly before the glue dried.
A final note, fold the satin base ribbon over at the end to get a clean edge after cutting it.
