- Wedding: September 2010
When I set out to make our wedding invitations I found myself standing in the scrapbook section in Jo-Ann Fabrics having absolutely no clue what I wanted to do. It was an overwhelming experience! Fortunantely my mom and I used to do a lot of crafts while I was growing-up and after 10 minutes of the “OMG what the heck am I going to do?!” moment, we snapped out of it and started grabbing things. Four months later I began making the invites (yes, I am a somewhat super-planner and was a little bit ahead of schedule ).
Two weeks later we had the invites done and out the door, to date we have received 1/3 of the RSVP’s back and just sent out (hopefully!) the last of the last-minute of the last-minute invites! The list keeps growing, does anyone else have this issue?
Supplies cost, postage and printing each invite cost $3.42. Our invites weighed under 1 ounce so they only cost $0.44/pc! I think finding out the cost per invite at the post office was the highlight of the entire experience (DIY brides, you know what I mean! it is a nerve-racking experience when you have no clue how heavy your beautiful invites may weigh!)
Here is the final product:
(found the fonts on dafont.com)
the invitation used velum, printed cardstock and ivory colored cardstock with a ribbed ribbon
I figured out how to create a map thanks to Mrs. @balletflat tutorial found here I wound-up using photoshop which was frustrating YES, time consuming YES, but overall did it come out the way I wanted? YES! If you have any knowledge of Photoshop or Illustrator, I highly recommend you use Illustrator!
I found the graphics of vines with grapes on it for the RSVP’s from briarpress and designed around it.
My mom and I found a 72 sheet book of 4.5″ x 6.5″ mixed printed cardstock at Jo-Ann’s for $9.99. By cutting each sheet in half I was able to make 2 RSVP’s per sheet.
I found the envelopes from envelopemall.com I found their pricing to be the most competitive in the online market. Plus they tell you it takes up to two weeks or so to get your order but I definitely received mine in less time which was a nice surprise!
