These where truely a labor of love.
I had 15 tables at our reception, each table needed 3-4 wine bottles. I had to de-lable, clean, cut and polish the bottom of every one. I broke about every 5th bottle. It took me days, but I think it was totally worth it.
I used the Ephrem’s bottle cutter kit from Amazon. I tried 2 others first and they were crap. Pay the $25 and save yourself the headache.
Here is how I cut the bottles: Score the bottles with the cutter, pour boiling water on the score line and then pour ice water on the score line. Keep alternating and the bottom will just fall off.
For the glittered pieces I went to the thrift store and got a bunch of glass items. Painted the insides with Mod Podge and poured glitter into them. Swirled it around until covered and let them dry. Some of these were cloudy for weeks but the glue eventually will go clear just give them time.
For the cork balls I cut 50 corks in half and hot glued them to a 3″ foam ball. Then I hot glued moss in between the corks so you wouldn’t see the foam. I put this on top of an upside down wine glass. Under the glass we put little Star Wars guys.
The pedestals themselves are 14″ wood circles glued to wood candle sticks and painted black. I glued some pretty ribbon to the edge just to jazz it up a bit.
You can’t see the table number holder in this picture but it was a Millenium Falcon. I will have to do a seperate post for those. They were so cute that a bunch of them went home with our guests.
I got all the candles from IKEA.
