Does anyone else have a K color diamond?
I have a 1.01 ct double halo split shank, on a size 6 finger. My diamond reflects pretty white most of the time but definitely has warmth, but in some lighting I can’t see the yellow tint at all! I’m seeing so many K’s out there that seem so much whiter than mine. Am I just color sensitive? I love the character of it but I can’t help but wonder if an I diamond would have been better suited for me. Don’t get me wrong I love my ring!!!
But it is too yellow?

Hi! Is that a cushion cut or a RB? I’m asking because the two shapes hide color very differently. Cushion and radiant cuts tend to hold on to color the most among all diamond shapes. This means that these cuts will show the most color and it’s advisable to go higher up in the color scale for the yellow tint to not be obvious. The lowest you can go for a cushion/ radiant cut diamond with no yellow ptint is probably a G. H if you’re lucky. Anything below an H will show the yellow tint.
On the other hand, a RB cut hides color very well. Hence, you can go lower in color and you will not see the yellow tint as much as you would in the cushion/ radiant. For a RB cut, you can go to a K and it will not look too yellow (compared to the cushion/ radiant cut at least). I think for a RB cut you can definitelly go as low as a K. I would however, advise a J color and above for an RB.
Different diamond shapes hide and highlight different things so priorities are different for different shapes.

diamondbeez : It is a cushion cut, I don’t mind the warmth, I am enjoying the character of it, but I’m wondering if it is what most people would call a “dud” or if it is still a nice looking diamond!

It is a nice diamond and a beautiful ring, doesn’t look like a K on the pictures. However I was focused on color so so much when we got my ring, I didn’t consider anything besides D or E. I got an E. Now I’m thinking maybe I could have gone bigger and I miss a lil’ character. Mine looks like it’s made out of clear glass. I love the whiteness of course but I wish we had different rings for different moods/days! haha

melihbee : Thank you! And so very true! I am the same way on that! Lol sometimes I am fascinated with the colors that are reflected but sometimes I do wish it was just white!

Your ring is absolutely gorgeous!! I can’t tell my the photos that it’s a K at all. The setting is very similar to the ring I’ve picked out (don’t have it yet). It looks perfect on your hand!
